Attracting Opportunities Through Action

Recently, I have found myself attracting opportunities that are moving me in the direction of what I want because I had taken effective action. One example was on the day of a business expo in my home suburb. Although that particular day I had not been feeling well, I knew that by going to the business expo, I would meet new people and possible new contacts to help reach my goals. At the expo, there was a major prize being offered and in order to be eligible to go into the draw, each person had to collect twelve colour coded stickers from the stalls. So, I made my way to each stall and spoke to every exhibitor and collected my stickers. Before I left, I made sure I filled out my details and placed my entry into the barrel. The next day, I received a phone call from the company that ran the expo saying that I had won the first prize, which is a trip away to the Central Coast to stay at a four star hotel. I will also be given the keys to a Toyota vehicle to drive there and back.

The reason I put myself in the position to win the prize was that I had taken action towards what I wanted. The prize was just a bonus. The action had set up the attraction for me to win the prize.

Being on a high after hearing the news of my win, I attended another business expo run by the same company at another suburb yesterday. As before, they had the same system on hand for winning a prize. I made sure that I mentioned to the people at the registration desk that I had won the prize a couple of weeks back. I once again collected my stickers and entered into the draw. And wouldn't you know it, I got a phone call today with the news that I had won a prize, not the major prize, but it is for a dinner for two at the Crown Plaza hotel, which is absolutely fantastic.

So, wonderful things can happen when you take action and move towards your goals. As Thoreau said, "If a person advances confidently in the direction of their dream, and endeavors to live the life they have imagined, they will with success unexpected in common hours."

History Being Created - Yuvraj Hits 6 Sixes In An Over

I'm a big cricket fan and I love watching the fast-paced action of limited overs cricket. History was made recently when Indian batsman, Yuvraj Singh, hit 6 sixes in an over against England at the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup. It really was an amazing display of clean hitting, which had the whole crowd in raptures, and the commentary box going wild with excitement. After the match, Yuvraj Singh mentioned that he wanted to set the record straight after he his bowling had been hit for 5 sixes in an over in an earlier match against England in the same tournament. Below is the video of Yuvraj's incredible batting performance.

Doing What You Know

I recently attended a meeting where one of the presenters was sharing personal development insights and how, a lot of the times, when we hear something, we tend to nod our head in agreement but do not do what we already know.

It is an interesting observation. If you were to ask yourself, "Do I do what I know?", what would your answer be?

There are many examples where people do not do what they know. For example, a student knows how to study but that does not mean that they will study, or a salesperson knows how to sell but that does not mean they will sell. So, the question is why don't we do what we know?

The answer is simply that we are being controlled by our paradigms. Our paradigms are like the control panel in a computer, it dictates what we do and what we don't do. Put simply, paradigms are a multitude of habits. The habits that are controlling us are usually other people's habits and in most cases, we don't even know how our habits were formed.

In life, everything comes down to results. We all want to improve our results whether that be our health, our relationships, our finances, our career and businesses, or our family life. But in order to improve our results, we need to understand what paradigms are controlling us and also have a clear picture of what we want or where we want to go.

In my book, "Hoops and Freedom", I discuss where our limiting beliefs come from and what can be done to move to where we want to be, along with many other success principles. To get a copy, please "click here".
